Nestled amongst lush green hills and snow capped mountains in full sight, beautiful little Kalimpong town is the head quarters of the sub-division by the same name. with panoramic views all around, a pleasingly relaxed way of life, friendly people and exotic flowers, the town, as one visitor puts it-is like heaven on earth.
But this heaven on earth, like so many other places in this world, in these unfortunate times, is now fast becoming a victim of two modern day curses of humanity-Drugs/Alcohol dependency and AIDS.
The situation is turning graver by the day and if left unchecked, the future of our entire society is in danger.
A time has come where the entire civil society has to come forward with a helping hand to stem the rot now-HANDS is one such endeavor by members of the civil society in Kalimpong to help victims of these two deadly diseases.
Our Mission
To encourage the Drugs/Alcohol dependents to seek professional help for the cure of their addiction.
To provide fully trained professionals with the requisite knowledge, skills and expertise at the disposal of the victims.
To provide counseling, conducive and healthy atmosphere and motivation during rehabilitation program.
To provide regular care, follow up and motivation to those recovering from Drug/Alcohol dependency.
Our Vision
The very birth of HANDS was with the vision of fighting the spread of AIDS and Chemical Dependency in the Kalimpong region. AIDS and Drugs/ Alcohol dependency are diseases, deadly and fatal, but they are preventable and the war against them very much winnable. HANDS has made the following its mission in its efforts to combat these two enemies of our society.
To start and sustain a mass awareness campaign, educating the public about ways and means of preventing these diseases.
To educate families and guardians of victims, the initial symptoms and signs of these diseases, so that they may be detected at an early stage.
To educate families and guardians of victims, the ways and means of dealing with the disease of their wards.

Our Story
How We Got Started
HANDS- ITS ORIGIN
Himalayan AIDS and Narcotic Drugs Society-has its origin in the great concern that the founding members of this society had for the unchecked spread of AIDS and Drugs/Alcohol dependency in Kalimpong and the region surrounding it. To help check its growth and to provide help to those who already were victims of these monster diseases-HANDS-a NGO- was formed and it formally opened up its office on the 26th of June 2006 at David Gas Building, Kalimpong.
Since its birth, HANDS has been sparing no efforts towards spreading awareness about these two diseases, providing help to its victims and education society about these twin evils.
